JP's Updated Friday Keeneland Info After Scratches
Weather reared its head to close the Spring Meet at Keeneland (just as it did to open it).
Race 4 is OFF THE TURF as of 11 am ET and the other grass races will hold out and try to run on turf if permissible. The main track is sloppy and turf rated good.
Race 4 was a turf sprint and those races due far more damage to the course with the field spread full out on the backstretch, creating a larger area that needs repairs between races; hence, that’s the first to be scrapped. Race 4 runs at 4-1/2 furlongs on dirt.
Lost several scratches so far, but key plays remain in Race 5 (#13 Miwa with #6 Mo Fox Givin), Race 6 (#7 Central Avenue) and Race 9 (#2 Will Take It). Let’s close strong today as yesterday’s key plays all ran first or second with promising efforts.
