Jeremy's Keeneland Big Carryover Friday Final Thoughts
We’ll start with a muddy track and good turf on Friday for the $211K carryover pick 6. By the time that series starts in Race, expect the track to be drying out considerably like it did on Thursday, eventually winding up fast a day ago. The Grade 1 Maker’s Mark Mile will be run on good turf, but there’s been no issue with horses getting over the turf this week and it’s certainly not a bog.
A drying-out racetrack has caused a good deal of chaos in recent days with 3 of the last 4 pick five sequences paying $34K, $55K and $57K and yesterday’s Super Hi 5 in the finale paid a mere $95K.
Jockey Luis Saez is back riding today after missing Wednesday and Thursday due to body soreness following Tuesday’s spill. He’s on several live calls to this eye.
Key plays for me are Ramsey Pond in Race 5, Kilwin in the Race 7 Limestone Stakes and Girls Rock in Race 8. We’ll try to build around those, while utilizing both Integration and Carl Spackler in the Race 9 main event.
Here are my updated picks after scratches:
