Jeremy Plonk's Friday Picks | Pick 4 Play
Friday night’s Primetime Pick Four at Remington Park now includes a $50,000-guaranteed pool each week, and tonight’s offering boasts a trio of stakes races.
Here’s how I see the sequence:
Remington Park // Race 7 // Don McNeill Stakes
#6 Running Flat Out (6-1 ML)
#2 Chasin Jason (6-1 ML)
#7 Boom Baby Flats (7-5 ML)
Comments: All of these two-year-olds stretch out for the first time, and I like the route pedigree, gallop out last time and blinkers on for Running Flat Out to offer a maiden surprise. Chasin Jason beat the top pick sprinting last time and was hung wide throughout. He looks like potential lone speed here and should get a MUCH easier trip. Running Flat Out’s stablemate Boom Baby Flats has no real knocks, but you’re taking 7-5 ML on a gelding who won the Oklahoma Classics Juvenile at 16-1. His form does look similar to last year’s McNeill winner Ghost Hero, who also broke his maiden in the Classics Juvenile and doubled up here.
Remington Park // Race 8 // Slide Show Stakes
#5 Letta’s Legacy (7-2 ML)
#6 Miss Code West (5-2 ML)
#1 Stairstep to Heaven (9-2 ML)
Comments: Fillies counterpart to the McNeil, but note among these juveniles, Stairstep Toheaven has already gone two turns at a mile trip. That one was just even turning back to the Oklahoma Classics Lassie when sprinting against the top two picks, but has the foundation to improve routing. Miss Code West looked the part last out while sharp from the rail. She’s go pace versatility. Well-bred Trout stablemate Letta’s Legacy galloped out slightly best in the Classics Lassie and may move forward on the stretch out at the better price.
Remington Park // Race 9 // Silver Goblin Stakes
#5 Fly to the Bank (3-1 ML)
Comments: Defending champion in this race showed pace versatility winning the Oklahoma Classics Sprint from midpack. The 11-time winner has shown propensity to pair of victories when in top form like the present and gets top rider Stewart Elliott.
Remington Park // Race 10 // maiden special weight on turf
#7 Charming Leah (8-1 ML)
#5 Mark of Victory (5-1 ML)
#1 Pink Solitaire (9-2 ML)
Comments: All but the top two picks in this race exit the same October 19 test, a race won by an 0-for-10 prior maiden who since has come back to run seventh in allowance company. Looking to the fresh faces, led by Charming Leah. She’s run just once at Remington and was only 1-1/2 lengths behind the same filly who would return to beat most of this field October 19. She looks to get more pace help in this race than her August local try. Mark of Victory steps up the layoff from solid Canterbury turf attempts, a circuit more renowned for its grass racing than dirt. Trainer Lund has run three at the meet via Canterbury who were away six weeks or more, boasting a win and a runner-up among those. Pink Solitaire is the best of the common returnees to this eye, running spotty that day and likely to get a more common trip having to show speed from the rail tonight.
