Jeremy Plonk's Final Preakness Morning Thoughts
** Race 1 off the turf, the other turf races as of 10 am ET are scheduled to stay on grass. Keep up with the changes.
** Soft turf should help #6 Five Towns (6-1 ML) in the Race 7 Gallorette, not sure anyone benefits in Race 9 Jimmy Murphy Stakes though #9 Echo Lane might on pedigree … same goes for Race 11 Jim McKay Turf Sprint contender #8 Boat’s a Rockin (who has taken a sharp amount of early money in advance wagering).
** Best bet of the weekend for me is #9 BEATBOX in Race 12 Dinner Party Stakes. That was before trainer Cherie DeVaux won 3 stakes Friday at Pimlico.
** Wet conditions if they persist until 7 pm for Preakness obviously favor Mystik Dan, who ran one of the two strongest preps of the year on a wet track in Oaklawn’s Southwest (along with Fierceness’ Florida Derby). I do think we’re going to see him right up on the pace and it could be much hotter than just Imagination as lone speed as many project. One or both Lukas horses could also be in the mix. Still lean slightly to #8 Tuscan Gold, but not a confident pick and looks to be an underlay for the price I want (currently around 7-2, should demand 5-1 or 6-1 and that’s not happening). Will be using #3, #5, #7, #8, #9 in multi-race bets ending in Preakness.
